Pond Plantings
You may have noticed that over the past few months there have been plants added to the ponds in Meadow Pointe IV.  These plantings were recommended by the aquatics contractor to help keep the ponds healthy and balance the nutrients in the water.  This project should be completed in the next month or so.

Palm Trimming & Maintenance
Our District Landscaping Manager has recommended that the large palms throughout the MPIV community be trimmed this winter.  This is part of the yearly maintenance to keep the palms healthy and prevent any problems with falling fronds.

Pond Stabilization
Based on a structural review of the ponds, the District Engineer recommended stabilization of a few ponds in MPIV.  The identified ponds needed to be reinforced to reverse erosion that had occurred over time and to prevent erosion from happening in the future.

Conservation Area Cutbacks
In a few weeks a company will begin doing a cutback of the conservation areas throughout MPIV.  The purpose is to clear back some of the common areas that are overgrown. The main focus will be on Meadow Pointe Blvd.  The District landscaping contractor is recommending that routine conservation cutbacks be included in future budgets to prevent encroachment onto sidewalks and in other common areas.

Duke Energy Mitigation Project
In an effort to mitigate the appearance and sound created by the expansion of the Duke Energy substation and electrical poles, trees will be planted along the banks of two ponds in the Provence community.  The design of these plantings is to draw attention away from the poles and should not obstruct the view of the ponds.  The CDD received $50,000 from Duke Energy for this project.  The goal is to have the trees planted in the next few months.  They will be watered by bags until they are established and will be maintained by the CDD landscaping crew.  Duke Energy has also agreed to add a sound mitigation system to reduce the buzzing sound emitted by the lines on the poles. As funding becomes available in the future, these proceeds would be used for planting additional trees at the entrance and in other areas to draw attention away from the poles.

Resurfacing of our Community Pool
After an inspection of the community pool revealed leaks and the need for resurfacing, the clubhouse manager requested bids from companies for resurfacing of the pool.  The Board of Supervisors approved a contract for a company to do the resurfacing in 2024.  In the meantime, a vendor will be doing repairs to the pool and deck area.

Street Tree Removal & Replacement Project
As you might have read in CDD meeting minutes, the Board of Supervisors has created a plan for removal and replacement of trees planted close to the sidewalks/streets.  The oak trees planted in these areas throughout MPIV will eventually cause damage to the sidewalks and create safety issues for residents.  It was recommended that we remove and replace them before damage occurs.  Funding to have trees removed and replaced has been budgeted for a couple of communities each year for the next few years.  Residents in each community will be notified about the timeline and details for the project in their community.

Sincerely,
CDD Management
